It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of a truly great scholar of nationalism, Professor Anthony Smith (1939-2016). Smith has done so much to advance the study of nationalism and his work will live on with us. As former president of ASEN, and founding editor of the Journal of Nations and Nationalism, his influence will always remain part of what we do.
