The Concept of Nationalism

Date/Time
Date(s) - 18/10/2017
18:00 - 19:30

Location
1.07 New Academic Building

Our next seminar will be given by Dr Montserrat Guibernau on the concept of nationalism, identity and belonging in a fractured world.

The concept of nationalism carries a stigma because many regard nationalism as a malign force responsible for war and hatred among peoples. This is true in many instances, but not in all cases.

It is impossible to talk about nationalism without explaining what we mean by it. It is my concern that nationalism is multi-faced and that different types of nationalism exist.

Nationalism is a doctrine of political legitimacy subjected to diverse uses and interpretations, and invoked by people seeking radically different objectives.

This event will take place at 18:00 on Wednesday 18 October in NAB 1.07 (New Academic Building), London School of Economics.

This is a free public event. However, we ask that you please confirm your attendance by emailing the Seminar Series Chair, Iro Konstantinou, at seminars@asen.ac.uk.
