When you join ASEN or attend an ASEN event you provide us with certain bits of information about you. For the purposes of the mailing list, we keep your name and email only.
Purpose and legal basis
ASEN uses this information to send out our newsletter which includes calls for papers, events, activities and updates in the field of nationalism and ethnicity studies.
As you have attended an ASEN event or been a member in the past, we understand that you have an interest in receiving this mailing and this is our legal basis.
Your name and email are also kept on MailChimp for sending out our newsletter. ASEN has a data processing agreement with MailChimp and a two-step verification process to ensure your data is safe. ASEN does not share your data with any third-parties.
The ASEN Coordinator reviews the mailing list annually and removes those we believe are no longer interested in the newsletter. This includes those who have not opened a mailing in two years.
You can withdraw consent for the newsletter at any time by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ button on any newsletter you have received or by emailing the ASEN Coordinator – email@example.com.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have a number of rights with regard to your personal data.
- You have the right to request from us access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data
- You have the right to restrict processing, object to processing as well as in certain circumstances the right to data portability.
- If you have provided consent for the processing of your data you have the right (in certain circumstances) to withdraw that consent at any time which will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before your consent was withdrawn.
- You have the right to lodge a complaint to the Information Commissioners’ Office if you believe that we have not complied with the requirements of the GDPR with regard to your personal data.
