Javier Carbonell is a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, where he studies the articulation of national identity by ‘mainstream parties’ as a response to the rise of far-right populist movements. He is also a member of the research project Trans-Regional Populism Dataset and the New Nationalism Project. Javier currently edits LSE Eurocrisis Blog, was a member of the Editorial Board of Millenium: Journal of International Studies and co-founded of ERGO: Revista literaria.
